Donahue Schriber Adds Gordon Square To Shopping Center Portfolio

Newport Beach-based Donahue Schriber has acquired Gordon Square, a 100,500-square-foot neighborhood shopping center located at Beach Blvd. and La Mirada in Buena Park, Calif. The $11.8-million purchase of the retail property from the former owner, Buena Park G & S, was finalized on March 31.

Donahue Schriber's plans for Gordon Square include an extensive renovation of the shopping center, as well as the addition of 27,000 square feet of retail space. The shopping center's lineup of retailers currently includes Super 1 Mart, PetsMart, Blockbuster, El Pollo Loco and Kragen Auto Parts. Donahue Schriber will be adding a new 11,000-square-foot Tutor Time daycare facility and a new 16,000-square-foot facility to house new specialty retailers, with construction beginning in June. The renovation and expansion project is anticipated to be completed by year-end 2000.

Donahue Schriber has developed or redeveloped over 12.2 million square feet of retail space in its 31-year history. A private REIT (real estate investment trust) since January 1997, the firm owns and operates 58 neighborhood, community and power shopping centers in California, Nevada and Arizona, representing 13 million square feet.
