San Diego, California—Representatives from Donahue Schriber Realty Group, owner of Del Mar Highlands Town Center, announced that $109,000 was provided to local charities in 2017. Recipients include a variety of local non-profit organizations serving at-risk youth, local fire and police, and public-school art programs.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito was thrilled to learn that they received a $25,000 donation. The money will be used to construct a much-needed Teen Center at the local Polster Clubhouse. Marineke Vandervort, Chief Executive Officer of The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, stated, “When people hear Del Mar Highlands Town Center, they think Jimbo’s, Cinépolis, and all the great places to eat and shop; who would have thought that same shopping center would give us the funding needed to build our Teen Center, we are so thrilled.”
Just in Time for Foster Youth received a grant for $30,000. The money will be used to support the Pathways to Financial Power program. Area business and community leaders volunteer to teach former foster youth how to create a resume, network, interview for a job, and manage their finances. The program builds self-sufficiency and confidence for foster youth that may not otherwise have such adult guidance.
Additional grants were awarded to Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, YMCA of San Diego Counties Youth and Family Services, Semper Fi Fund, 17 public schools in Carmel Valley, and other local charities. Tim Sullivan, General Manager of Del Mar Highlands Town Center, said, “We feel it is a corporate responsibility to give back to the communities we serve. We know this money will be put to good use.”
